About Golden Coast Rehab in La Mesa, CA

Golden Coast Rehab is an outpatient mental health and addiction treatment center for adults, serving San Diego County from a single facility at 8809 La Mesa Blvd., Suite 102, La Mesa, CA 91942.

Two Licenses, One La Mesa Building

We run two coordinated clinical lanes under two separate authorities. Golden Coast Rehab is a contracted provider of Specialty Mental Health Services (Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program) for the County of San Diego, Behavioral Health Services, under County Contract 575462. Golden Coast Rehab also holds DHCS substance use disorder certification 370254AP, expiring 02/29/2028, for outpatient detoxification, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment.

Having both authorities in one building matters on the day someone's depression turns out to be tangled with their drinking: here that is a treatment-plan adjustment handled by one team, not a referral elsewhere and a restart.

What We Treat From La Mesa

The mental health lane treats anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD and trauma, ADHD, borderline personality disorder, and schizophrenia at the PHP and IOP levels; a full course of care runs up to twelve weeks. The substance use lane covers alcohol, opioids including fentanyl and heroin, stimulants, benzodiazepines, and prescription drugs across outpatient detox, IOP, outpatient, and MAT. Dual diagnosis care runs both lanes through one assessment and one team.

How Care Is Measured Here

Symptoms are tracked with standardized tools, the GAD-7 and PHQ-9, at intake and through treatment, so decisions ride on scores rather than impressions. As of July 2026 the programs are staffed at two clinicians for every five clients, and medication decisions are managed by our Medical Director, Dr. Sanjai Mathew Thankachen, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist.

What We Do Not Provide

We do not provide residential or inpatient treatment, and the substance use partial hospitalization track, while licensed, is not yet enrolling. When someone needs a level of care we do not offer, we say so at assessment and help them find it.

The program is built around Medi-Cal beneficiaries in San Diego County rather than adapted to them, which is the practical reason a person's plan name does not decide whether they can be treated here.
