Golden Coast Rehab is an outpatient mental health and addiction treatment center for adults in La Mesa, California, serving San Diego County from a single facility at 8809 La Mesa Blvd., Suite 102.
We were built for a specific person: an adult with Medi-Cal who needs real clinical care and has been told, repeatedly, to try somewhere else.
What we do
We run two coordinated clinical lanes under two separate authorities, and we are precise about the difference because the distinction is real.
Specialty mental health
Golden Coast Rehab is a contracted provider of Specialty Mental Health Services (Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Program) for the County of San Diego, Behavioral Health Services, under County Contract 575462. These programs serve adults 18 and older whose primary condition is a mental health condition. See mental health treatment.
Substance use treatment
Golden Coast Rehab holds California Department of Health Care Services substance use disorder certification 370254AP, covering outpatient detoxification, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment. The certification expires 02/29/2028. See addiction treatment programs.
When both are present — which is common — they are treated together by one clinical team. See co-occurring disorders.
What we do not do
We do not provide residential or inpatient treatment, and there is no substance use partial hospitalization program here. When someone needs a level of care we do not offer, we say so at assessment and help them find it. Saying no accurately is part of doing this well.
Why Medi-Cal first
Plenty of good treatment exists in San Diego County for people who can pay for it. Far less exists for people whose coverage is Medi-Cal, and the gap is not because those people need less care. Being a contracted County provider means any Medi-Cal beneficiary in San Diego County who meets clinical criteria can be treated here, whichever of the four managed care plans they hold. That is the point of the program, not a footnote to it. See how Medi-Cal works here.
How we work
A few commitments run through everything:
- Tell people the truth about fit. Including when the answer is that we are not it.
- Treat both conditions at once. Nobody is told to get sober before their mental health condition will be taken seriously.
- Keep people in their lives where possible. Outpatient care means recovery gets practiced in the conditions you actually live in.
- Protect privacy. Your health information is HIPAA protected, and we explain plainly what we can and cannot share with the people who call about you.
