Addiction Treatment

Our Addiction Treatment Programs

Golden Coast Rehab is certified by DHCS (certification 370254AP) for detoxification, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment, so care can step down with you as recovery progresses.

Levels of Care & Programs

How the levels of care fit together

Addiction treatment is a sequence, not a single service. Most people move through it in this order, though not everyone starts at the top.

  1. Outpatient detox — medically supervised withdrawal, where it is needed. Detox makes treatment possible; it is not treatment on its own.
  2. Intensive outpatient — several sessions a week, the core of the work, while you live at home and usually keep working.
  3. Outpatient — a lighter schedule that keeps the clinical relationship intact through the first year, when relapse risk is highest.

Medication-assisted treatment runs alongside any of these for opioid or alcohol use disorder, and dual diagnosis care runs alongside all of them when a mental health condition is part of the picture.

What we do not provide

Golden Coast Rehab is outpatient only. We do not offer residential or inpatient treatment, and we do not offer a substance use partial hospitalization program — partial hospitalization here is a specialty mental health service under our County of San Diego contract. If your assessment shows you need a level of care we do not provide, we will tell you plainly and help you find it. That conversation is free and there is no obligation attached to it.

Paying for treatment

Substance use treatment for Medi-Cal beneficiaries in San Diego County runs through the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, administered by San Diego County Behavioral Health Services rather than by your managed care plan. If you have Medi-Cal in the county — any of the four plans — and you meet criteria, care here can be covered at no cost to you. See how Medi-Cal works here.

Questions, Answered

Frequently asked questions

No. All of our substance use programs are outpatient, under DHCS certification 370254AP. If you need residential or inpatient care, we will identify that at assessment and help you find it.
Do I need detox before starting treatment?
Only if withdrawal management is clinically necessary, which the assessment determines. Many people enter our intensive outpatient program directly.
Can I keep working while in treatment?
Usually yes. Our intensive outpatient and outpatient programs are scheduled around work, school, and family responsibilities.
Is there a partial hospitalization program for addiction?
No. Partial hospitalization at Golden Coast Rehab is a specialty mental health service delivered under County Contract 575462. Substance use care is provided at the detox, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment levels.
Does Medi-Cal cover addiction treatment here?
Yes, through the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System, at no cost to you, on any Medi-Cal plan in San Diego County when criteria are met.
