8809 La Mesa Blvd., Suite 102, La Mesa, CAOpen in Google Maps
El Cajon sits directly east of our La Mesa facility, and the trip between them is one of the shortest of any community we serve. We do not operate a facility in El Cajon — clients travel to 8809 La Mesa Blvd., Suite 102, La Mesa, CA 91942.
From Fletcher Hills, Bostonia, downtown El Cajon, or the Rancho San Diego area to the south, this is a short drive rather than a commute, which makes several sessions a week genuinely practical.
Getting here from El Cajon
Driving: Interstate 8 west, exiting toward central La Mesa. From the southern end of the area, State Route 125 north connects to I-8 within a couple of miles of us.
Transit: the MTS Green Line runs from the El Cajon Transit Center west to the Grossmont Transit Center, where it meets the Orange Line for the short hop to the La Mesa Boulevard station. Local bus routes also connect the two cities.
Why El Cajon residents make good use of an intensive schedule
Our mental health program meets a morning and afternoon block, and our IOP meets mornings only — schedules that ask a lot of anyone with a long commute. From El Cajon, the trip is short enough on either the freeway or the Green Line-to-Orange Line connection that showing up four or five days a week does not eat most of the day. That matters more than it sounds: consistency is a bigger factor in how these programs work than any single session, and a short commute is one of the more practical things that makes consistency possible.
Bostonia and the area around the El Cajon Transit Center have the most direct transit access, since the Green Line stop sits close to both. Fletcher Hills and the neighborhoods nearer the Grossmont Center are effectively a few minutes closer still by car, sharing much of the same route drivers from La Mesa itself use.

Rancho San Diego and the southern part of El Cajon
Rancho San Diego, along the SR-125 corridor south of downtown El Cajon, connects to us by a slightly different route than the rest of the city — SR-125 north to Interstate 8, rather than a straight shot on I-8. The drive time ends up similar. This area does not have its own trolley stop, so residents there typically drive or take a bus into central El Cajon to reach the Green Line.
Downtown El Cajon and the older neighborhoods
El Cajon's downtown grid, near Main Street and the historic district, is the shortest drive of anywhere in the city, sitting only a couple of miles from La Mesa Boulevard along I-8. Older residential neighborhoods just north and south of downtown share that same short trip. Because El Cajon is one of the larger East County cities by population, we hear from clients across a wide range of these neighborhoods, and the honest answer for almost all of them is the same: this is one of the closer communities we serve, not one of the farther ones.
Programs and services available from our La Mesa location
Golden Coast Rehab holds County Contract 575462 with San Diego County Behavioral Health Services to provide Specialty Mental Health Services — see our PHP and mental health IOP pages for how each program is structured. Separately, DHCS certification 370254AP authorizes our outpatient substance use services: detoxification, standard outpatient, intensive outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment, detailed on our addiction treatment programs page. Both authorizations cover this one building only; residential and inpatient levels of care are outside what we offer, and clients needing them are referred elsewhere. Condition-specific pages, including alcohol and opioid treatment, carry the clinical detail this location page keeps brief.

How Medi-Cal applies for El Cajon residents
Specialty mental health and Drug Medi-Cal benefits in San Diego County run through the County's Behavioral Health Services system rather than through your individual managed care plan, so any of the four Medi-Cal plans active in the county work the same way here, El Cajon included, with no cost to you when clinical criteria are met. Details specific to each plan are on our Medi-Cal page.
